Job Description: - Principal Mechanical Package Manager

Academic Qualifications: - Minimum BEng in a relevant subject. Associate or Full Membership of a recognised professional Engineering body would be an advantage.

Skill Sets: - The candidate should ideally have design experience in the majority of the following areas:

• Material and Mechanical handling equipment.
• Isolator and containment technologies
• Production of design documentation suitable for use within a highly regulated industrial sector.
• Mechanical process equipment.
• An appreciation of Fabrication design.
• An appreciation of designing equipment for manufacture and installation.
• An appreciation of commissioning equipment.
• Sub – Contractor Interface and Management.
• Management of a small team of multi-discipline engineers
 
Experience: - The ideal candidate will be an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer having good organisational and people management skills.

It is unlikely that a candidate having less than 5 years experience in a similar role would be suitable for the post.

Experience in either Nuclear or Defence Industries is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities: - Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will form a key part in a small dedicated team engaged in the delivery of a major project on behalf of a prestigious client.

Liaising directly with the Client/end-user the successful applicant will be required to participate in the definition of concept designs fulfilling the clients’ requirements. Transferring the concepts and requirements into performance specifications for subsequent procurement. Interfacing directly with other disciplines, such as C&I, Electrical, Building Services, Piping and the appointed sub-contractor to ensure the design output is compliant and fulfils the clients’ requirements and expectations. Liaison with other engineering disciplines will be required.

Interfacing with Design Authorities and production of Design Substantiation Reports.

Other Requirements:

• The candidate must have DV clearance.
• The candidate should have access to a motor vehicle and hold a full & current UK licence.
• The candidate must hold a British Citizen passport; dual nationality passports are not acceptable.
